I participated in a competition to create the 2024 Shevchenko Foundation Commemorative Bookmark to commemorate the work of Taras Shevchenko, the Ukrainian national bard, and promote Ukrainian culture.
Task: create an original artwork based on a pre-selected Taras Shevchenko poem:

Ukraine will rise.
It will dispel the gloom of bondage,
It will light the world of truth,
And prayers will be said in freedom
By children once unfree.
Drawing inspiration from Ukrainian culture, I focused on elements such as traditional embroidery, the Ukrainian flag, vast fields, and the iconic sunflower.
In my work, I used the Ukrainian ornament "Stars", the meaning of which is "protection from evil and negativity".
I used the image of a sunrise. The rising sun reflects the path from darkness to enlightenment and represents hope, renewal and the promise of a bright future for the nation.
A powerful image of the sun rising over the Ukrainian landscape symbolizes the dawn of a new era for Ukraine.
