For the newly reconstructed building of the Main Railway Station in Prague, we created the typeface Fanta.

The Fanta building at the main station is the largest and one of the most important Art Nouveau buildings in the Czech Republic. It was designed by the architect Josef Fanta and was used for passenger check-in until 1977 when a new brutalist underground hall and the underground railway platform opened. The building was built between 1901 and 1909, and Stanislav Sucharda, Čeněk Vosmík, Ladislav Šaloun and Viktor Stretti designed the beautiful decoration.

The Main Station in Prague was long called Gare Wilson in honor of the American president who played a significant role in the history of the creation of Czechoslovakia. In 1918, the first president of the Republic, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, received a thunderous ovation from the crowds, welcoming his return from the United States on the platform of this station. In the sumptuously furnished lounges for distinguished guests were waiting for the train Thomas Alva Edison, Le Corbusier or Charlie Chaplin.

The Fanta font is based on the historic plans of the Fanta building and the surviving Art Nouveau typography in the interior. The visual style of the building was created by www.marvil.cz
