Flash to HTML5 Conversion For Mobile Learning Solutions
Case Study: Successful Legacy Content Conversion for an E-commerce Giant

Company Overview:

A leading e-commerce enterprise with a rich history of delivering fast-moving consumer goods sought our expertise for the conversion of their legacy content from Flash to HTML5. The task at hand involved transforming three sets of courses, each comprising 70 flash slides, into HTML5. The additional challenge was to create multilingual eLearning programs, enabling the company to engage a global audience in their native languages.

Proposed Solution:

Given the absence of source files, the client provided us with all the requisite supporting files, including .swf, .xml, JavaScript, reference publish output file, and media files such as audio and video, presented in a well-organized format. After evaluating the content and source files, we recommended developing the project using Articulate Storyline.

Our Process:

Upon receiving the necessary files, we initiated our development process as follows:

• Source files
• Media Extraction
• Template Design
• Instructional Design
• Prototype Course
• Develop Complete Course

Throughout each stage, the unwavering support and collaboration from our stakeholders proved instrumental, enabling us to complete the project within the agreed-upon timeframe.

Challenges Overcome:

The conversion process posed unique challenges, particularly when dealing with left-to-right languages. Translating the courses into 13 languages to expand the brand's reach added complexity. Some languages required intricate adjustments, including converting images to align with specific writing scripts. Moreover, the flash slides' large size, attributed to numerous frames and heavy content, demanded strategic data chunking and slide splitting to enhance course appeal.

End Result:

Implementing effective Flash to HTML5 conversion strategies, we successfully developed courses that empowered our client to connect with a global audience across various mobile devices. The project's end result showcased our ability to overcome challenges and deliver high-quality, multilingual eLearning experiences.
