Der Leipziger Südfriedhof zählt mit seinem 78 Hektar großem Gelände zu einem der größten aber auch schönsten Parkfriedhofsanlagen Deutschlands. Die Anlage besteht (2024) seit 138 Jahren.
Für mich ist dies nicht nur ein Ort des Abschieds, der Trauer und der Stille-sondern ein Ort der Liebe, der Gemeinsamkeit, ein Ort der Familie.
Außerdem ein Spiegelbild der Moderne seiner Zeit, ein Ort der Kunst und Architektur. Diesen Aspekt habe ich in diesem Projekt versucht abzubilden. Die Vielfältigkeit der Objekte und Stile, zusammengefasst an einem Ort, ist nur in so einer Anlage zu finden.

With its 78 hectares of grounds, Leipzig South Cemetery is one of the largest and most beautiful park cemeteries in Germany. The site has been in existence for 138 years (2024).
For me, it is not only a place of farewell, mourning and silence, but also a place of love, of togetherness, a place of family.
It is also a reflection of the modernity of its time, a place of art and architecture. I have tried to depict this aspect in this project. The diversity of objects and styles, brought together in one place, can only be found in such a complex.
