Depeche Mode was the band that marked my adolescence. With the death of the keyboardist and founder Andy Fletcher in 2022, I was inspired to create a conceptual album as a tribute to him. "Rest" is a personal project in memory of Andy, inspired by the iconic song Enjoy The Silence.
Here, "rest" refers to the pauses in the sheet music, inviting people to allow silence to be played. All the songs have been edited with slowed/reverb to provide a contemplative experience and to incorporate the materiality of cassette tape.
For the creation of the icon, I used the letter 'S' from the chosen typeface for the project as a base. From it, inspired by musical scores, I recreated a unique 'pause' icon for the album's visual identity.
