Visit the Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas, or any of its other older neighborhoods, and you'll discover the city has a rich history that stretches from the Old West into the 21st century. Music has played an important role in the city's vibrant cultural scene since the 1800s. When I served as a board member for the Fort Worth Music Co-op, we felt that many might not realize just how much Cowtown has contributed to the music world. I put together this brief history to help folks understand how deeply music is engrained in the city's heritage.
