Struggles of the Lost Man - A Memorial to HIV/AIDS

Sculpted Painting by Visual Artist Grey Cross

Meaning: The hand reaches towards a representation of an AIDs Virus cell, to grasp the medication lined at the top, while death waits on either side.

Materials Used: Grout, clay, foaming glue form the backbone of the piece. The color is created by layer upon layer of wax (in actuality crayola crayons). The symbols were painted on then overlaid with glue which was then coated in three different colors of crystallized sand.

History: This piece is created in memorial to all those who have passed and those who still struggle with this devastating virus. This is perhaps the most difficult piece I've ever created in terms of the materials and process and the subject matter that pulls at the heart and soul. It is my hope that it touches your heart and soul also.

This piece is available for purchase. Please contact the artist for further information at:
