This ongoing project was inspired by old double exposure photography in film cameras.

For this particular body of work, I create two separate pieces. First, I photograph a girl, usually only showing part of her face. Then after studying the photo, I determine what colors would complement it, and what patterns would play off of her individual features. Then I create a painting with those things in mind, and when the painting is done I digitally superimpose it over the girls face, giving her the appearance of painted skin. 

The girls' faces are intentionally emotionless, because the color of the paint and the patterns of the work are supposed to convey the emotion absent in their expression. Blues are darker, powerful, reds are vibrant and lively. Color is interpreted by different people to mean different things, and I like to play on that idea in my work.
