For the past 125 years, UCLA Lab School has been leading education with a cutting-edge school for children and a laboratory for teachers and researchers. By learning from students, they’ve created a circle of curiosity, experience, and understanding that not only transforms children, but also the entire education field. As a leading institution, UCLA Lab School’s work impacts public school systems locally and around the world.
DISTINC_ was tasked with creating a new brand communication system to convey the impact and transformative nature of the school. We went through an extensive process to better comprehend the school long history, unique pedagogy, varying audiences, as well as strong internal values plus existing external perceptions. This equipped us to craft a tailored communication system that encapsulates the organization’s exploratory spirit while resonating with the school multiple audiences. We were able to capture the imaginative layers and inquisitive nature of the school through a playful yet deliberate visual language, complimented by a boldly declarative statement.
Internal pride has surged on campus in response to the new and unconventional visual language. The transformative school that teaches a different way of learning now has an innovative brand to match. Look for exciting collateral from UCLA Lab School as it rolls out a suite of powerful new materials to help continue their efforts in leading edge-ucation.
