Fictional Spacecraft

When I first started playing around with AI art generators, I asked Stable Diffusion to draw some spaceship interiors. Here is a sampling of what I got.

As I became more confident in my ability to write a prompt, I tried to get Stable Diffusion to draw a sailboat sailing in the clouds with space visible above it. As you can see, the AI either drew a space scene without a sailboat or a sailboat in the water. Oh, well. Perhaps, someday.

Then I wanted to see if Stable Diffusion could draw a Star Trek-style ship without specifying which kind of ship. The spaceships it gave me were pretty distorted and didn't really look like anything from Star Trek.

It had a hard time with Star Wars-style ships, too. In fact, I can't tell the difference between these and the supposedly Star Trek-style ships.

So, for my last feat, I asked Stable Diffusion to draw a blend of the USS Enterprise and the Millennium Falcon…and got more of the same.

These illustrations were drawn using Stable Diffusion 1.5 and Stable Diffusion 2.1.
