I worked with my best friend on this piece. I've just finished the book Demian (by Hermann Hesse) at the time, and felt compelled to create something that convey the feeling of surreal awe that the story brought me. After reading an excerpt of the text for my friend, they came up with the following sketch.
I then cleaned up the sketch and digitalised it, adding texture along the way. The weird man-bird was thus born.
