How can OLED technology change
the way we perceive light?
My goal was to convey OLED technology characteristics such as being light, thin and cold to the touch, in a product able to change the way we traditionally perceive lamps. The result is a chameleonic lamp able to transform between two modes at the touch of a finger. When off, Mimesis looks like a picture frame customisable with a variety of pictures, materials and textures; when on, Mimesis reveals a set of high efficiency OLED panels.

HANG IT LIKE A PICTURE FRAME
Mímesis is super thin, it can be hanged on the wall like a picture frame bringing the light right where you need it without being “invasive”.
ROTATE THE PANELS TO TURN ON THE LIGHT
Turning on the light is highly intuitive; just rotate the panels to reveal the inner OLED surface. With Mímesis you can literally “touch the light” without worrying about getting burnt as OLED is cool to the touch.
DIM THE LIGHT WITH TOUCH CONTROLS
On the frame bottom surface a subtle touch dimmer allows the user to adjust the intensity of the light with a simple gesture.
Mimesis is constituted by rigid OLED panels modules sized 200x50mm.
It is offered in 3 different sizes:
1. FRAME – 18 OLED, 660x360mm, for a luminance of 1296 lm
2. SQUARE: 14 OLED, 460x410mm, for a luminance of 1008 lm,
3. WINDOW: 12 OLED, 860x210mm, for a luminance of 864 lm.
This concept introduces a new level of mass customisation in the lighting field: costumers could personalise their Mimesis lamps by choosing between a variety of prints offered on the online shop or even upload their own pictures to be printed on it.
