Trapped in the Digital World: Children Who Never Venture Outside
Children's physical activity goes beyond play; it is a vital process that nurtures physical, intellectual, and emotional growth. Participation
in physical activities contributes to a comprehensive development in children, where increased physical strength plays a pivotal role in shaping interpersonal relationships and amplifying intellectual abilities.
However, in the contemporary world, children are introduced to electronic devices from an early age, confining their world to screens. These screens, which have become the playground for growing children, should not limit their activities solely to virtual realms. The challenge is to expand children's playgrounds beyond screens and encourage outdoor exploration. How can we achieve this change, ensuring that electronic devices serve as tools to broaden, rather than restrict, the horizons of children's physical activity?

어린이의 신체 활동은 단순히 놀이를 넘는 신체적ㆍ지적 · 정서적 성장 과정입니다. 신체 활동은 어린이들의 균형 있는 발달을 이루며 활동에 따른 체력 상승은 지적 능력을 높이는 동시에 대인관계 발달에도 중요한 역할을 합니다.
그러나 걸음마를 떼기 전부터 전자기기에 노출된 현대 사회 어린이들의 세상은 스크린 속에 한정됐습니다. 신체적 활동이 필요한 성장기 어린이들의 놀이터가 되어버린 작은 스크린. 그들의 놀이터는 스크린에서 끝나는 것이 아니라 신체적 활동도 동반되어야 합니다. 전자기기가 스크린에 한정되지 않고 어린이들의 놀이터를 세상 밖으로 넓혀준다면 어떤 방식을 통해서 가능할까요?

The curiosity to learn and acquire new knowledge serves as the driving force for children to explore and question the world around them.
In essence, it is crucial to foster and satisfy children's curiosity. When this curiosity is actively engaged, it naturally encourages children's physical activity.
Can we encourage curious children to explore their daily lives by igniting interest through playful activities? If they could interact with the world around them in this way, it might contribute to them leading healthier lives compared to their current circumstances.

새로운 지식을 배우고 습득하려는 호기심은 아이들이 주변 세계를 탐구하고 의문을 품게 하는 원동력이 됩니다. 즉, 아이들이 호기심을 지속적으로 품게 하고 이를 해소시키는 과정은 중요합니다. 그리고 이러한 호기심이 동반된다면 자연스럽게 아이들의 신체 활동을 이끌어 낼 수 있습니다.

BINO is a mixed reality (MR) device designed to broaden children's horizons in the digital age, seamlessly connecting the virtual and real worlds without confining them to a small screen. It facilitates curious children in exploring their daily lives, enabling interaction and fostering growth within the real world.
BINO는 디지털 시대 아이들의 세계를 작은 화면에 가두지 않고 현실 세계까지 넓혀주는 MR(Mixed Reality) 기기입니다. 호기심 가득한 아이들이 일상을 탐험할 수 있도록 도와주며, 세상과 상호작용하며 성장할 수 있게 합니다.

BINO offers two different lenses: a normal lens and a wide-angle lens. With these two lenses, a child can observe both
close and distant subjects.

The night, seen through BINO, shines. In the child's view where reality and virtuality blend, the night sky is illuminated by numerous stars.
현실은 어둡지만 BINO를 통해 바라본 밤은 빛납니다. 현실과 가상이 합쳐진 아이가 바라보는 밤하늘은 수많은 별에 의해 밝혀집니다.
Share the World
BINO comes with a built-in projector, making it possible for children to share the moments that they have recorded during the adventure with family, all without requiring an additional display.

All tokens acquired by the child during exploration are stored in the library. Families can take time to reflect on their children's day while reviewing the stored tokens.

Beyond Conventional MR Devices
Conventional MR devices require the wearing of hardware on the head or a part of the body during use. The reason for this is largely due to the fact that MR devices are typically used in limited spaces. However, if a world where virtual and reality are mixed is limited to small rooms, it is difficult to say that MR is being used as efficiently as possible.
BINO is an MR device that breaks free from conventional thinking, seamlessly connecting virtual and real experiences in a more flexible and natural way. It enriches life by expanding the stage of virtual and real interactions beyond confined spaces to a broader world, rather than limiting them to a small area.

The separation of virtual and reality plays a key role in expanding our spatial experience. Unlike typical MR devices that require continuous wear, BINO allows users to seamlessly switch between virtual and real experiences. This flexibility enables users to experience both virtual and reality, as well as the space where the two converge.

The cushions feature soft mesh, ensuring a safe experience for children. The detachable strap makes it easy for children to carry them while on the move.
