I had the chance to create a graphic piece while participating in an illustration workshop with the Ilustren collective, taught by Patricio Otniel and Vicente Marti. The theme of the assignment was to represent a specific area of Chile. Once the theme was set i was free to create the illustration with any technique. In this case I chose to go the digital way and make a montage based on geometric shapes, digital cutting, textures and a cold and recognizable color range. In case you don't recognized or not know, the illustration is a representation of the Torres del Paine in the XII Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica.

Tuve la oportunidad de crear una pieza gráfica durante mi participación en un taller de ilustración con el colectivo Ilustren, impartido por Patricio Otniel y Vicente Martí. El tema del encargo era representar una zona específica de Chile. Una vez establecido el tema uno era libre para crear la ilustración con cualquier técnica. En mi caso opté por ir por el camino digital y hacer un montaje basado en formas geométricas, recorte digital, texturas y una gama de colores fría y reconocible. En caso de que no reconozcas o no conozcas la ilustración es una representación de las Torres del Paine, ubicadas en la XII Región de Magallanes y de la Antártica Chilena.

El proceso fue en su mayor parte experimentación digital. Por lo mismo la etapa previa de dibujo fue muy reducida. Solo tracé el estilo geométrico de los elementos protagonistas y un bosquejo básico de la composición general.

The process was mostly digital experimentation. The previous stage of drawing was very short. I just traced the geometric style of the main elements and a basic sketch of the overall composition.
