Expressionism & typography

This is a project which has three main outcomes, each of the three is an exercise to use typography as an emotive vehicle.
The first exercise is a set of expressive typographical posters related to three different writing pieces and styles, poetry; song lyrics; novel, all written during the first world war.

Poem
Veglia, Giuseppe Ungaretti, 1916
Song
Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag, and Smile, Smile, Smile, George H.Powell, 1915
Letter
Letter home, Ernest Hemingway, 198

The second exercise is the adaptation of exercise #1 on a page spread layout.

The third exercise is a short reinterpretation for the layout of the novel Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things by Jon McGregor.

The layout is geometrical and the text boxes are aligned to the bottom of the page to abstractly emulate the skyline of a city. After every comma I've introduced a blank space to give a breath of silence within all the noises described in the text.
