Time Travel
Bat of No Bird Island is a composition for chamber-jazz ensemble written by Seattle composer and percussionist Paul Kikuchi. The work, inspired by the written memoir and 78RPM record collection of his great grandfather, Zenkichi Kikuchi, draws inspiration from aspects of Zenkichi’s life as depicted in his memoir.
The design for this project started with the development of the logotype and title of the project, a phrase found in the memoirs. With the rest of the visuals I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the music - a spacious, time travel, authentic, and raw experience.
