The Sunday Times Redesign

The brief for this project was to redesign the front, second and third pages of the Sunday Times, set by the design editor. Myself and Jordane Roberts created a newspaper based on the idea of 'Relax, it's Sunday'.
With this mantra we decided to create a clear and concise design with lots of space, baring in mind we are now in a digital age where people are used to viewing publications on tablets. With a target audience of 25-40 year olds we wanted to adjust the style of the newspaper so it was more modern, yet keeping the sense of tradition with the typeface.

The light teal colour was used subtly to evoke the 'calming' element of our newspaper, as well as to highlight certain areas of the stories within it.
We were also asked to consider the digital side of the newspaper, and with a Graphic Communication student, Michael Grimshaw, we created a mock-up app that kept the design of the newspaper. The app is simple to use; we also made it more personalised to the user, who is able to share and save certain stories.

As a little extra we also created an advertisement to demonstrate the use of the app.
After presenting our outcome to the design editor, we were offered a two week internship at The Sunday Times.
