"омайна тишина, погълни ме" - glass installation, fused glass, cassette tape (2023)
Around six months ago I started working on glassworks reflecting сбогом хиляди’s album “омайна тишина, погълни ме!”. The album is created with a 70's electric organ and some field recordings. I’ve witnessed the relentless process of composing, playing the organ and processing the sounds afterwards. Listening to the music in its various stages, I began to create my own body of work that was both excited by the world and mood of the album, as well as the themes of silence, time and their effect on us.
My interest deepened in the caustics and reflections that a glasswork can leave. The installation “омайна тишина, погълни ме!”  explores how the thick and rich sounds correspond with these reflections and their interaction with the space in which they are located.
There is not only an emotional connection between glass and music, but also a physical one. Woven into the glass is a magnetic audio tape used in the recording of the album. Due to the material of the tape, an unpredictable chemical reaction occurs, which gives color and texture of the glass.
I almost always listened to the album while working on the installation, many decisions were made based on a state provoked by the music. My work was driven by intuition and pure inspiration from the layered sounds.
"омайна тишина, погълни ме! (bewitching silence, swallow me whole!) is an album dedicated to the need of nothingness and the passage of time. as anxiety saturates our everyday life we find ourselves struggling to find space. this album provided me with the space i needed and i hope it will do the same for you."
