Half my life, I've been a Harry Potter fan. I still remember those days where I frequent Mugglenet, answer quizzes, and obssess over the actors! I always come back to Hogwarts when I have nothing else to read, or too lazy to finish other books I started. I've come back more than five times. I just finished last week rereading the series (again), and it got me thinking, I still haven't made anything for The Boy Who Lived.
To celebrate Harry Potter's 34th birthday, I made my own book covers for the whole series. I was inspired by the vintage Penguin Scores collection Jan Tschichold designed. I created patterns using a significant object from each book. I used those in the movies as reference and digitally painted all seven. As for the title, I want to retain that Harry Potter touch that reminds me so much of the original books, so I used a flat, simplified version of the iconic logo.
That's it! I'm happy I finished everything for today.
Happy birthday, Harry! :)
(It's already July 31 here in the Philippines. Haha.)
