Security is a major issue for Women in India and across the globe.
Every single day young girls, mothers and women from around the world are being assaulted, molested, and violated. According to the statistics 92 women on an average are raped in India everyday, and around 60% of the women get raped worldwide (where most of the cases goes unreported)Every single woman in this world has felt unsafe just walking down the streets.
"Men taunt us on the streets open and unashamed, like we are dogs straying into sacred places..1947,you say? ' India awoke to Live and freedom' Indian Women are wide- eyed, awake, and still waiting." - Suchi Govindarajan.
Thus, with the notion that the integration of design and technology would allow us to be more vocal and help reclaim our space, I designed a smart garment, Digitally Speaking. It is designed to mitigate this issue, promote dialogue within society and emphasize that safety is a fundamental right, and should not be considered a luxury for women.

Digitally Speaking was selected as the top 14 creative projects in the INDEX awards competition in association with Distributed design Market platform and got a chance to present the project in We make the city conference, Amsterdam'2019.
