System3 History: In 2008, New York Construction arranged a competition named, Best of ´08 awards. The aim of the competition was to apreciate the creative designs of architectsfrom around the world. In this competition, Architects Oskar Leo Kaufmann and Albert Rüf from Austria participated. Two architects presented their System3 in this competition. Out of a total of 268 nominations, System3 was selected for development by Museum of Modern Art, New York, under small projects category. Furthermore, it is to be noted that there were two previousversions of this system. System1 was designed in 1997, and System2 in 2002. Hence it is important to note that the system was a gradual development and improvement to the previous versions.
Duration of Construction: It was a 650,000 dollar project by MoMa, under which 5 prefabricated houses were constructed. The designers were allocated a space near the museum and a time of six weeks. System3 was built only in 7 hours, after the material was delivered to the construction site.
System3 Analysis Project:
This project is actually the constructive analysis of System3 in the category of pre-fabricated homes. This system is almost 80-85% pre-fabricated and is assembled on site after it is transported via standard logistics. This project was done for Technical Univeristy of Munich's EBB Chair, chaired by Prof. Florian Musso
