BACKGROUND
In Turkey, diverse factors contribute to the harm inflicted upon forests, lakes, wildlife, and ultimately, nature. However, the primary source of harm remains constant, humans. We are not a rule abiding society, and as long as we persist in this behavior, conditions for nature will continue to deteriorate. The severity of the situation only becomes clear to us when it’s too late.
IDEA
To demonstrate the declining state of nature in present-day Turkey, we documented the ineffectiveness of warning sign poles at real incident-sites with the assistance of professional photojournalists. These poles, originally erected to protect lakes, forests, or wildlife, now remain as symbols of degraded environments they were intended to safeguard.
EXECUTION
We partnered with professional photojournalists to document these obsolete sign poles through authentic photos taken at real incident-sites, highlighting how both natural conditions and human activity have rendered them ineffective. Through creating banners and social media posts, we raise awareness about the gravity of the situation, emphasizing its severity. We convey our message in high impact locations through our Out of Home OOH executions on the roads leading to natural areas, urging attention to the critical importance of environmental preservation.
