Picture planning notes -
I originally planned on my project tackling similar themes but instead choosing to literally show the beach through the eyes of a young me and an older me. Instead I opted for the old viewpoint with commentary acknowledging my younger views. I made this change to show how my younger brother has helped me see the beach the same way I used to see it when I was his age. I chose to have strong orange colors be the most prevalent because at all times of my life this conveys my warm feelings of the beach the best. Even though other colors may appear stronger at times, like the green grass, it all ties to my perspective of the ebach at the time. For the grass its brightness shows my reignited desire to explore.
Sand - When I think of my many childhood trips to the beach I almost always dug holes and earched for cool rocks/artifacts. Find cool shapes in the sand and weird rocks.
Grass - I still wander through tidepools; but when I was a kid, wading through tide pools looking for crabs and snails was my major outlet for exploration.  Find shallow pools teeming with life.
Rocks - I loved the thrill of exploring more of nature, this led to climbing the large rocks on the edges of the beach, further leading into my passion for rock climbing/bouldering. Sheet rocks with dark, bold, richly warm colors.
Sunset -  My shift of loving the beach because of its fun activities to appreciating it for its beauty. Shows my summer soent working there. Still warm and orange but with a weighty darkness.
Smiling rock at old beach - Although I can still have fun at the beach and appreciate its beauty. I will always have the memories of its oddities and how they used to be new and exciting to me.
Orion appearance - My youngest brother is the main focus at the beach, showing how my beach exploration may be over but his is just beginning. I can have pride/happiness in his experiences.

The original plan was to have 3 pics when older - Darkened colors, wider views; and 3 pics when younger- brighter colors, more ‘hands on feel’. Opted for one continuous story.

Project theme of Exploration of the beach - An exploration of some of my favorite childhood activities, all at the beach, that either changed with time or led to new un-thought of experiences. Explores my childhood passion of exploring

Project description -          I wanted this project to touch on my passions and expereicnes using the beach as my medium. Looking into themes of exploration, curiosity, and growing up. My fondest childhood memories were running through the sand dunes of my local beaches, wandering through tidepools and climbing alien rocks. I loved going to the beach. When I got older I eventually started working at a nearby resort with three of my best friends. Here is where I started to view my time at the beach in a different light. I enjoyed my summers there relaxing after work and watching the sunset. I had already explored my nearby beaches many times over and I could now enjoy their beauty in a different, more familiar way. My youngest brother has his own experiences still to come at the beach and he sees it the same way I used to. Even though I don’t have the same childlike joy for the beach that my younger brother has, I have an equal appreciation for it. I still get the same childlike joy from before when exploring together, regardless of my experinces there.

Although theres no buried treasure shown here you cant help but wonder what might lie bellow.
With my brother just arriving and excited to see the rest of the coast I am reminded of this curiosity.
A happy rock shares my sentiment over this bizzare landscape.
I found tidepools that once again felt new and exciting to wade through.
Climbing these majestic sheets lining the border of local coasts led me into my current hobbie of bouldering.
Long days of work at the resort could only be paired with laying on cool sand while relaxing in the warm sunset.
