The purpose of this project was to create a design for a book jacket for the book, Hybrid Imagery; the fusion of technology and graphic design, by April Greiman. I wanted the design to capture a spirit of exploration, non-conformity, boldness, vibrancy and playfulness. I created this composition by layering live text over a photo of type taken from my computer monitor.
I took a close-up photo of the word "hybrid" on my monitor through a magnifying glass to achieve the background image. I then layered over the background image with live text in silkscreen, futura and panel mono fonts. I alternated between multiply and normal transparency with the live text to enhance the interaction between the background and foreground..
I chose bright colors with white to emphasize vibrancy and freshness.
