On the Road to Tahoe California

Getting there is half the fun!  Our first stop was Klamath river for a three day whitewater boating trip.  Then we spent two days getting from the Klamath to Lake Tahoe.  We visited Burney Falls and Gold Lake along the way.  We even found Big Foot.
Taz always curious about what is going on beyond the window.  Here we are stopped on the highway above the Klamath river waiting for the rock movers to finish digging out a sloughing hillside.
Molly and Adam are not afraid of Big Foot.

The key to a fun campout is spagetti!
Adam and his new friends!
The hammock is a hit!
Is there a boy in there?
We think so but he looks awfully deflated.
An old tree burned out from lightning.
Adam standing in the opening of the old tree.
Burney Falls.  An absolutely beautiful waterfall we found on our roadtrip south. It made me sad to think that Californing can build wonderful parks around spectacular places like this but...in south King County the Green River Gorge remains isolated and underappreciated!
Sneak peak along the Burney Falls trail loop.  The loop starts at the entrance to the camping area.  It goes up stream and crosses over on a bridge above the falls.  Then it follows the river down stream below the falls through beautiful forest.  It crosses back over the river and goes back up towards the falls.  You end up at the bottom of the falls before heading up again.

See the people on the right?  It gives you a good idea of just how big these falls are.
The ever present Osprey.  My favorite bird.
You can buy them expensive toys but...they can have just as much fun playing in a bear box.  Luckily it opens from the inside or we'd have lots of stories of cooked kids in the bear boxes.
Taz at Gold Lake.
We found Gold lake nestled in the high Sierras just above Sierraville.  North of highway 49.  Beautiful shallow lake.  Perfect for an afternoon swim.
