The project was carried out in the Script and sign studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, as a font revival exercise. It was based on a Granjon Ascendonica Romaine, a type by Robert Granjon from 1570.
The first part of the assigment was analysing the original type based on the scans of the prints from the period. This stage was all about focusing on proportions and rythm of the original.
This stage included analyzing multiple examples of the same letters.
Based on the original 1570 typeface, I designed the regular version, and based on it bold, slab, sans and display versions.
