CRYPTID CLUE BOARD GAME

Clue: Cryptids Edition
You knew you saw something unbelievable one night when walking home. You try to tell others about it, yet they don't believe you. It's up to you to gather the evidence you need to prove the creature's existence to the public.

Contents: Gameboard, 6 cryptid tokens. 6 evidence device tokens. 21 cards (6 cryptid cards, 6 evidence device cards, 9 location cards). Case file envelope. Pad of detective notebook sheets. 2 Dice. Game guide. Character information sheet.
This game is an edition of the game of Clue inspired by Cryptids who have yet to be proven with good evidence. Instead of the classic murder mystery storyline in the original game, here you must hunt down creatures like: The Banshee, Bigfoot, The Jersey Devil, The Loch Ness, Moth Man, and the Wendigo and gather proof needed to show that they do in fact exist.
The packaging is a cork board that traditionally in detective or search-related scenarios includes papers with imagery and text on them with a red string looping through the thumbtacks that hold them in place; typically to connect clues or details. It includes the classic Clue logo on a torn paper held to the cork using office tape and includes the edition title next to it. On the front of the box, the full bodies of the cryptids are on sticky notes and connected with red thread. On the back of the box, up close shots of the cryptids are on papers with smaller sticky notes on them naming them. An image of the board is also displayed.
The illustration design of the cards and tokens is a quick sketch/hatched style, as if the images were quickly drawn in a notepad to try and recall what you just saw. The evidence tokens and cryptid tokens are also in that same quickly illustrated style of just black lines and hatching to give texture and contrast.
The typography used on the sticky notes on the cards and the notepad sheets is my handwriting. This allows players to sink further into this realm that they are the hunters who are making these notes to get closer to finding the creatures.
All of the cards include a solid black boarder and a quickly sketched drawing of either the cryptid or the evidence tool. The imagery is paired with a bright yellow sticky note on the front in the same place to not only provide context of what that card is but to also provide consistency among the cards. Although the location cards are not the exact same style, they are cropped close-ups of the locations on the actual board, which was hand painted and distorted with a filter to show even more that hand-painted appearance.
These are the cryptid designs sketched in Adobe Illustrator.
The cryptid tokens and evidence tool tokens are the same style as the cards, but placed into a program for laser engraving. The cryptid tokens are stained to stand out more and have higher power settings to appear darker. Whereas the evidence tool tokens have a lower power to appear lighter and were not stained.

Above is a mood board that was created before the design work began for the Clue: Cryptid Edition board game.
The mood board above shows the initial thoughts and ideas for the board game. At first the characters were going to be in a color block, no outlines style which was eventually switched to the quick and roughly sketched black line illustrations. The detective clue boards of cork and notes was included part of the primary packaging. Game pieces were to be 3D printed initially, yet were also changed to wood to further enhance that hunting feel.
