Lucky or Unlucky
Brief
Is the number 13 lucky or unlucky? That is the concept that I explored while creating this environmental design. While working as a graphic design intern at Blik design studio I was asked to created a design that would go on the electric box outside the office to both draw interest and point out the location of the studio. The office is on 13th street, which is where the concept of a lucky or unlucky stemmed. While interacting with the electric box you must ask yourself, is the number 13 lucky or unlucky?
Approach
My employer, Tyler Blik, liked my Women project in my portfolio and liked the layers created through the typography. He wanted me to use this style to create the design for the electric box. First you see the number 13, then are drawn closer to see the smaller text. The box creates a different view for every different person, you can also interpret the text on the box in many different ways. The typeface is a mix of both sans serif and slab serif. The color I used is both eye catching but works with the elegance of the building that Blik design studio resides.
