Here is Phoebe, a girl who's cursed with living, again. The idea for this character sprang from a project I was assigned in my Concept Art class a little while ago, and I've taken a liking to her since. Because of this, I have lots of documentation on her creation, and thus, I will share all I have.

At first, I only knew I wanted to make an alchemist, someone who might not have any special powers, but can hold their own in a fantasy setting. I began by sketching character ideas based on my references.

I liked many of the character concepts, but it felt like the many of my ideas came together on the last one, making it stand out the most to me. And so, I chose the girl with a mushroom growing on her head. 

Before settling on this design though, a fair share of outfit (and color) exploration was in order. 

While I liked most of them, the one coming from the original sketch still resonated with me, and so it stayed as the final design. Now, came the fun part. Giving her more personality!

Lots of poses and expressions! I settled with a friendly personality and an extreme passion for her work. She isn't much of a fighter, but she's got her smarts to back her up!

Throughout this project, I believe I improved a lot in terms of character creation, as this process (albeit a lot less documented) would become the standard for all future characters I would design from then on out.
