Wood Turned Ornaments

I have always loved bespoke ornaments for Christmas and having recently been married I needed to populate my new home with holiday décor.  I also wanted to try some new wood types for wood turning so I added cherry and cedar to my repertoire.
Here I have a piece of cedar mounted in a chuck.
This is after roughing off the bark.
After shaping:
Fully finished with an oil finish and a way to hang it from the tree.
Here I got half way through a tree before a chunk tore out and I had to pivot and make another fineal.
One snowman!
A wax finish for the snowman makes the grain pop!
Snowman two did not turn out so well.  The pith tore out and I had to scrap this one.
My first ever time turning cherry wood and it was smooth as butter.
Fully roughed out.
I put a little bauble on top of this tree for fun detail.
Here it is fully sanded to 600 grit.
Four wonderful bespoke ornaments with a couple fun pivots.  My wife loves the cherry Christmas tree the best and we are excited to put them in our home!
