Project brief

We use language as a means to communicate narratives, relay information, and connect with others. With the world being more hyper-connected than ever, there is a much broader sense of curiosity and awareness about different cultures. We are able to learn and share different parts of our lives, languages and cultures more than before, through a combination of physical human interaction and technology. The project's aim was to develop an identity for the University’s new Language Centre. The Language Centre currently operates as an ESL English teaching centre but has plans to expand to language lessons for other languages. They are in need of a logo and a corporate identity with some branded collateral. 

During this project, we will delve into the world of branding and strategy development as we create a unique brand for the Language Centre. We will focus on the visual identity development process, growing your conceptual and branding skills. The aim is to create a strong, cohesive, visual identity for this institution. The focus of this brand should be to share the language or culture with a defined target audience.

Design strategy

Leveraging the power of shapes as fundamental visual elements, our brand strategy recognizes their ability to communicate characteristics and emotions nonverbally. In the context of a brand catering to foreign students in South Africa, where stability, reliability, guidance, and a sense of confidence are pivotal, we strategically employ square, circle, and triangle motifs.

The colours, orange, pink, green, blue, black and white play a crucial role in order for this brand to stand out and give students the confidence they need in a confident brand. 

Our brand strategy revolves around transforming language learning experiences. Bid farewell to awkward greetings and linguistic uncertainties. Embrace confident communication at the heart of Pretoria. The centre inspires language learning, fostering independence and confidence in your progress. Step out of your comfort zone, enrich your identity, and connect with locals, unlocking new possibilities and dreams. We are confident so you can be bold.
