Victims of femicide
The infographic illustrates the number of women murdered in Italy in 2023.
According to Oxford Languages, femicide is defined as Any form of violence systematically exerted on women in the name of an ideological superstructure of patriarchal origin, with the aim of perpetuating their subordination and annihilating their identity through physical or psychological subjugation, up to slavery or death.
Each leaf represents a murdered woman. If internally colored, the victim knew her perpetrator, and the color indicates the nature of the relationship. From January 1 to November 21, 111 women have been killed. In the end of visualization, the complete list of victims. Suicides are excluded.
