I animated some older works with the help of AI: Runway ML
It is amazing how good it works to add camera animation and subtle movment to the images, i am very happy with the results.
Seeing these old familiar pictures getting some new life and really become space by just adding a little moving to it.. Well, getting very emotional :)
All of this was generated from Still-Images, "hand crafted" renders i made over the years, some very old personal works and
some more recent comissioned pieces i made for tpa design, seastone investment, sector 7 investors, Fabian Freytag and Bauwert AG
Just to run down the numbers: This is about 5 Minutes of video, which means ~7500 single frames.
On my main workstation, a threadripper with 64 cores (a very fast computer) one of these frames would have rendered around 10 minutes each, which would mean
it would have taken more than 50 days rendering 24/7 to produce this the conventional way.
This one actually took about 5 hours to "render" - but not really: it took me 5 hours to upload the stills and iteratively tweak settings.
Plus another half day to edit the video with premiere...
So mind = blown and to be honest i can very much live with some of the funny stuff happening by "accident" in some parts of it just looking
at the difference in production time. The tech will evolve further and i believe these weird things like over-done tree movement and wobbly straight lines
will be a thing of the past very soon.
