Project Brief

Conceptualise and create engaging, visually appropriate packaging design solutions for the existing brand from IOW 300.1. The essence of the brand needs to be captured in the packaging design, but may be expanded, extended, or tweaked as appropriate to suit design solution. The final packaging solution needs to be extendable and needs to show a range of at least three polished elements. The packaging’s usability needs to be carefully considered, as well as appropriate to the brand and its selected target audience. The completed packaging solution needs to be translated into a three-dimensional render, using Cinema 4D.

Design Strategy

In IOW 300.1, the driving force behind the visual language of Quiet Scents was the Pelargonium plant itself, which also then served as the foundation for the design direction of the brand’s packaging design. The brand’s packaging, therefore, uses the Pelargonium leaves for the cylindrical box design. While the perfume bottle takes on a dome-like shape which encapsulates the plants’ leaf inside the bottle as the holding shape for the perfume. The bottle is also surrounded by a layered paper cut-out plant scene to further enhance its natural healing qualities. Meanwhile, the colour palette was limited to purple, green and orange and specifically applied to Rose Pelargonium, Citronellum Pelargonium, and Grossulariodes Pelargonium respectively, to signify the different fragrances within the perfume range.
