Maxon One

We were given a fairly open brief when Maxon commissioned us to create a series of video clips to promote the Maxon One Capsules library. Our task was to produce six video clips showcasing the new materials in the Maxon One Library.

Having spent many years creating set designs in a photography studio, we still bring that approach to most of our projects. However, we thoroughly enjoy harnessing the possibilities of CGI to craft scenes that would be challenging to create in real life.
We drew inspiration from the inherent characteristics of the materials we needed to feature. We believed it would be a great approach to base the concept of each capsule on how objects made from those specific materials naturally behave when in motion.
We imagined a playful nod to Tetris when conceptualizing the “fabrics material” capsule. Our aim was to showcase the appealing wrinkles that naturally emerge as the shapes interact and move.
"Seeing Tetris shapes flawlessly align and fit together is always very satisfying!"
"It was a great opportunity to use cloth simulation to create an interesting movement in the pieces of leather. This movement highlights the way the different kinds of leather catch the light."
"What better way to highlight the metal capsule than by presenting the mesmerizing dance between a powerful magnet and an array of metal objects?"
What's intriguing about plastic is its ability to be solid or soft, even flabby. With this in mind, we crafted a piece inspired by architecture, incorporating inflated elements in the nooks and crannies. We experimented with various aged plastics, each with many imperfections, to weave a compelling narrative about the object and enhance the image's authenticity and lifelike quality.
"Drawn to the captivating balance of stacked stones defying gravity, we crafted a unique representation with geometric shapes reminiscent of stone samples."
