L'Oreal, Intranet Re-design

One of the top London agencies specialising in UX, Webcredible, appointed me to work as the UX lead on an intranet redesign project for one of the beauty industry giants.

The problem: Their existing intranet was difficult to navigate and people weren't using it as they found it hard to search and find the content they needed. During focus groups sessions, it was clear that almost all users thought the user experience was very poor and content was neither prioritised, nor personalised or relevant.

The approach: We started the project running stakeholder workshops with their key stakeholders to define the business needs and goals and what would deem this as a successful project.

We followed our UCD process by defining target audiences: During the stakeholder workshops we established who the different types of users are for the intranet and the needs for each audience type.
Stakeholder workshops during the requirements gathering phase
Early user validation: Based on the results of the research and the entire requirements gathering phase, we sketched four low-fidelity approaches and tested them with real users during drop-in sessions and workshops
Taking users through different approaches for their intranet and listening to their feedback, ideas and concerns
Analysis and prototyping: We then proceeded to analysing the findings from the drop-in sessions and choosing two approaches to prototype.
Proposition testing and finalising our appoach: We run a proposition test showing both approaches to users and understanding which approach would suit better user needs. Once the right approach was selected, it was further refined with user insight and delivered to the client along with a strategy document I wrote explaining the strategy and logic behind our decisions.

Senior stakeholders praised the UX worked and were very happy with the result.
