Back Wind Neck Fan
The Back Wind Neck Fan is a novel concept neck fan that directs air to the back of the neck rather than the front of the face. During the development phase, the market already had various forms of neck fans available. As a late entrant into the red ocean market, the project's assigned designer recognized the need for distinctive features in the newly developed product. Thus, the initial phase of development began with observing the shortcomings of existing neck fans.
The identified issues with traditional neck fans can be broadly categorized into three main points
1. Bulky and Similar Shapes (Cylindrical shape attached to the front)
2. Hair disturbance and interference with the face.
3. When the wind blows towards the face, eyes, nose, and lips easily become dry.

In response to these challenges, the designer worked towards creating a Back Wind Neck Fan that not only addressed these issues but also introduced innovative features, setting it apart in the market.
I came to the realization that if we could address these three fundamental issues, a new and innovative neck fan could be born. To find solutions, I spent a considerable amount of time contemplating, and I was able to derive a simple conclusion: "Let's send the fan to the back of the neck; that way, the position of the wind coming towards the face would change, and it might also enhance the design style."
I shared this idea with team members, seeking their opinions. Generally, there was a consensus that developing the idea further could yield positive results. We prepared about 10 sketches, including the aforementioned idea, and conducted a design review. The client, upon seeing the sketches, became interested in the new design with the fan at the back of the neck. After a few days of deliberation, they selected this concept.
Introducing a neck fan with a completely new design posed many challenges initially. Issues such as weight distribution and ensuring proper airflow had to be addressed. Despite facing numerous trials, we tackled these problems with effort, time, and passion. The most crucial aspect was creating numerous prototypes until we achieved the desired level of air circulation.
And thus, the "BACK WIND NECK FAN" was born.
The sleek, streamlined body of the Back Wind Neck Fan disperses air from the back of the neck. The airflow, guided by the wings at the center of the neck fan called the Wind Wing, creates a natural breeze towards the face, providing the user with a pleasant and refreshing experience.
You can observe the flow of air starting from the back of the neck, riding the Wind Wing of the neck fan, and spreading throughout the entire space.
After wearing the neck fan, it was confirmed that the body temperature dropped by approximately 2°C.
The rear part containing the fan is filled with components, making it appear large in actual area. However, by utilizing three-dimensional curves, we create a sculpted shape, employing visual tricks to make the product appear more compact.
After the prototype phase, continuous follow-ups were conducted through cross-checks involving the responsible designer, company representatives, and engineers to ensure product lightweighting and assess manufacturability. This thorough process enabled a smooth transition to final production. The neck fan initiated crowdfunding on Wadiz during the early stages of product release, achieving a funding rate of 3500%, marking a successful start and bringing the product to the market.
