KHYBER
Student Project for Canadian Wood Council
KHYBER was a design response to the challenge purposed by the Wood Council of Canada to promote Canadian hardwood by creating a marketable product.  My design team came up with the idea to create a multifunctional piece of furniture that would be appropriate for small space living.  Together we designed and constructed a modular club chair which doubles as a side table for small living quarters.  We created an extensive marketing plan which won our team an honorable mention at the design competition.

Materials: Canadian Maple, fabric, foam

maple veneer highlights the smooth contour of the chairs arms.  The bright green fabric adds a surprise of colour like a seedling breaking ground.
The KHYBER allows the user a wide enough arm rest to place additional items such as books, music or a small reading lamp
The seat back folds down and the two halves slide together concealing the seat cushions.
A sleek modern bench/ side table that easily tucks away or to have additional items placed on top.
