TBWA/Neboko asked Chris Staves to direct two highly graphic commercials for the Consumentenbond (Dutch Trading Standards). For the first one, we were given a simple brief to show a radiator heating up through a thermal camera but take it to a more aesthetic direction. In real life thermal cameras are very low resolution so do not give the creative opportunities that making one ourselves does. Chris decided to play on both the colour palette and the motion of heat spreading from pipes to radiator, to create a stylized graphic experience that most importantly, does not lose the feeling of realism. We also filmed a cat to add that contented warm feeling!
