Mechanically Natured - 2D Plotter Drawings (2023)

Using a 3D printer as a 2D plotter, I utilised Grasshopper to create a variable definition that is converted to Gcode to execute 4 designs.  My primary objective was just to experiment and test out new components and through the process, find a combination of suitable components to create the definition. The field line component caught my eye as I felt like it has versatility in creating unique patterns and using that as my main motivating concept, I played with pairing other components to further enhance the field line design. After creating the root-like design, I focus my drawings using that factor as the driving force.

The end product was these designs which were technical yet organic resulting in pattern that is as though machine printed nature.
