Homage To The B-Movie
Recreating a B-Movie Poster
The Challenge was to create a Movie Poster, designed to resemble that of the B-Movies off yesterday, using Corel Painter 11 as the software/weapon of choice.  As I brainstormed I remembered that I had some pics takenn at  a Fantasy/Cos-Play type photo shoot I had participated in.
So using those photos as both reference and inspiration, I launched Corel Painter 11, and with  a scratchboard tool began to quickly sketch out my "girls gone wild!"  concept.  Once I had the sketches done, I played around with the composition until I was happy and felt like it was beginning to mirror an old movie poster style.

I couldn't come up with a title that I was happy with, or that didn't sound like something someone else was doing, so I used Google translate and played around with different translations until I came up with one that seemed to lend itself to the B-Movie idea.

All of the elements of this poster were created by hand in Corel Painter including the font which was done using a customized graphic ink brush.  Once I had a title I was happy with, I came up with a final composition and began adding the color using the same customized graphic ink brush.  When completed the ends looked to perfect to have been hand done as posters of old were so I selective went back in with an eraser and added random irregularities to give it an old worn feel to it.

Here's the final result below...
