Narrative Photography
Brief
For this project, we were required to create a horizontal layout that photographically illustrates a narrative, highlighting visual qualities like shape, texture, pattern and tonal values. It is meant to remain an abstract piece with an immediately understandable visual sequence.
We were expected to photograph, edit, but also curate a narrative as a "concept" for the viewer. The layout was to consist of five images: three documentary images and two fashion images.
Deliverables
• A unique series of 5 images which will be presented on a single canvas comprised of
- 3 greyscale documentary photos
- 2 greyscale or colour fashion photos
Design Strategy
I ended up taking quite an organic approach to this project inspired by my "girl house" (my messy, girly apartment and my penchant for aestheticising everything). The final product is meant to evoke nostalgia for girlhood.
