Editoral Art
For this assignment, I was tasked to create editorial art pieces for a news article in any image-making technique. My deliverables for this project include: main article artwork, main artwork mocked-up into the article, secondary artwork for the same article and secondary artwork mocked up into the article. I want my drawing to fit the title of my chosen article while also appear visually striking which would grab readers attention.
Sketches
I researched many artists to base my project on. Some of these artist include Keith Haring, Sarah Mazzetti and Nina Cosford. Keith Haring’s artwork is simple in design but
hectic atmosphere. The longer you look at it the more insane the imagery becomes. Sarah Mazzetti has a free flow style of art that feels carefree and natural. She makes great use of colour which always manages to stand out. Nina Cosford has a unique art style which you would expect to find in a sketchbook but makes for beautiful illustrations on their own. Her work always includes multiple elements seen in her images. Below are my interpretations of their work.
After experimenting with my researched artist styles, I found myself really enjoying Sarah Mazzetti’s art style. Her use of thick strokes and free flow style was a lot of fun to replicate. I found it so enjoyable that I decided to take those elements and apply it to my final image. This is very different to the usual type of drawings I do, which made this piece very enjoyable to create.

Article Layout
I found this assignment very enjoyable as it gave me an insight into what it would be like working as an editorial artist. It was very exciting being able to choose which article to illustrate as we could go in whatever direction we wanted to. Photoshopping our images into the article was the highlight of this whole assignment as we got to see what we were working towards was for.
