During their tenures, the world witnessed technological developments such as FORTRAN, the removable hard disk drive, RAM memory, the SABRE travel reservation system, the Blue Gene supercomputer that helped decode the human genome, nanotechnology and countless others—developments that have impacted scientific research, business and daily life.
