I COME BACK HERE OFTEN
The title of this zine references to revisiting depression, or rather often living with that constant feeling of sadness. I decided to live the mantra of "putting yourself into your art, and created a very personal zine. Using the online print-on-demand service Blurb I created a zine in one day.

Using only scraps of various fashion and travel magazines, I left my conscience and emotions guide my hands to create the work.

The collages that serve as the imagery sources for this project were small and intimate. Typography served as both pattern, graphic design, and meaning. A semaphore for my inner most thoughts - whose total meaning remains foreign to me - and that perhaps need further deciphering.
What I love about this self directed project is that it conforms to restrictions that force creativity. I set these goals for myself when creating this zine.

1. Do not think too hard about you are doing, (i.e. make the art first and thick about what it means to you later.)

2. Create all the artwork in one sitting (or day). No carry-over into tomorrow, whatever is done is done.

3. Work only in black and white. Less choice in images to use, but those images chosen become by nature very specific. Most of the selections were unconscious decisions.

4. Make the artwork for the print. In this case I was going to make a small zine 5x5inches. So my artwork didn't need to be large, the smaller the better, the more intimate, the less noise with superfluous elements of the collage.

5. Enjoy the process. Force nothing. Listen to conversations you are having with yourself. Make the work.
