rules involves a series of hand-embroidered works that address the subject of generational traumas transmitted through the female line. This series was created after several discussions with local women from Viișoara, Romania, after which various issues became recurrent, that helped me to better understand the female condition and the roles of women in an Eastern European society. These roles seemed to be based on a series of unwritten rules, touching on topics ranging from what was considered appropriate beheavior to motherhood and working profession.

Respecting these rules meant fitting into certain patterns imposed by society, patterns that did not allow for a reclaim of the female voice in order to verbalize one's own needs and desires. These rules are inscribed in the textile material in a manner that is not easily understandable at first glance, because, like socially imposed rules, they require a closer look to be identified.
