Let’s talk testosterone

Let’s talk testosterone. At the end of August, my gynecologist put me on a very low dose of testosterone after my bloodwork came back indicating that I had zero testosterone (even though I was using an estrogen/testosterone cream daily to help mitigate my vulvodynia symptoms). So by starting the topical testosterone gel, the hope was that my levels would rise and some of the symptoms I had been experiencing (fatigue, anxiety, etc) would be improved because the hormone that regulated them had increased to a more normal level. That was not the case, instead of me feeling different after starting the testosterone I began to experience side effects from it such as hair growth. So, at the beginning of October, my doctor and I decided to stop the gel as my blood work had only risen slightly, I wasn’t feeling any different, and I was experiencing a negative side effect. I share all of this to hopefully inspire you to not only try a treatment you might be scared of but to also encourage you to speak up and get off medications that are causing more harm than good.
