The Stranger's Guest, 7/8/23  (1)
This work (1) is very personal to me and one I have been working on and off over the last three years. The main idea of the work came from the aftermath of covaid-19. As it felt strange and off to see other (including myself) to be out and about without a mask on. I had to readjust to what was normal again. So I took that idea to a more extreme degree with two creature interacting each other. The Stranger (being the looming figure cloaked in red who is casted in shadows) and The Guest (being the small faintly glowing creature in blue) are ment to be opposites down to what and how they are hold in their hand. Yet both are amazed by each other in different ways.
The Guest hold their light towards The Stranger offering or showing off their glowing flower to The Stranger.
The Stranger is holding it light source away from The Guest to show that The Stranger is fearful and/or warry with others. The light source itself is more trapped when compared to the guest flower.
Designing of the Stranger and The Guest
At first it started with this sketch (2). The idea was meeting this lanky and tall humaniod that has to take a knee to be at eye level with you. The pose didn't change to much but I changed what it was wearing to make it more unknown. The arguement being the Less is more!

Designing The Guest was not as planned as The Stranger. The orginial idea for The Guest was for them to be a normal human on the ground moving trying to crawl away from The Stranger. I moved away from that idea as it lead to a terrified tone whitch was not my goal. So I changed The Guest to be the opposite of The Stranger but they are still amazed about The Stranger.
