A series of portraits for KPN/Getronics, an ICT-company. I used genuine butterfly wings to get the best result. This had to look surreal, yet realistic. Not everything has to be done in CGI, so it proves.
The models were shot lying down on a glassplate. I used giant paper "wings" to achieve correct lighting an reflections.
The butterflies came from the entomologist collection af the Amsterdam zoo.
A blue gradient, to suggest a surface beneath the floating model.
"Handmade" shadows. These are quite complex and exist of several layers, using the shape of the model and wings, and vary in hardness, as if the models were lighted by different lightsources -as, in fact, they were.-
Finally, lot's of subtle adjustments in color and contrast, gave this result.
