De Stijl: The Universal Art

Article on the De Stijl art movement. The objective was to inform the reader of the movement by creating an engaging and organized grid system that kept the reader interested. Above is the intro spread for the article, with an illustration based off one of Theo Van Doesburg's magazine covers.
Above is the second spread of the article. I created a grid system that resembles Mondrian's paintings. Here, there is information on the birth of De Stijl and desriptions of its prime members.
Above is the third spread. There is information on De Stijl applied to architecture and furniture design. Pictured at the top of the page is the famous Scröder house, the only building with De Stijl principles fully applied to it. I overlapped some images to give the page a sense of motion, much like Rietveld did with the house.
Last page of the article. Information on De Stijl's application to graphic design, influence on music, elementarism, and the eventual disbandment of the group.
